CLIC CASE STUDIES

The Swiss quality CLiC pipe and cable fastening clamps have been used and proven all over the world in applications that mirror all Australian industries.

Here you will find brief case studies where CLiC qualities such as corrosion resistance, safety and fast installation facilitate projects such as tunnelling and construction work, nuclear power plants (electric conduit pipes) or waste incineration plants (pipes for sewage, heating and heat recovery).

  • Epping to Chatswood Rail Link - NSW

The 13 km rail link is completely underground and included three new stations. CLiC clips were used to install the radiating cable.

  • Airport Link Northern Busway - Queensland

The Northern Busway (Windsor to Kedron) is a three-kilometre busway with two stations. CLiC clips were used to install the radiating cable.

  • High-speed rail tunnel

Between Cologne and the Rhine in Germany, trains operate in tunnels at speeds of up to 250km/h. Since 2002, modern tilt-trains have been operating on this line.

This is a project where radiating cables have been fixed to a total length of 47km, with approximately 45,000 CLiC TOP pipe clamps used.

CLiC TOP has also been used in other railway tunnels and underground lines in Vienna, Hong Kong, Singapore, London, Los Angeles and other major cities around the world.

International

  • Beam Cable in road tunnels

Some of the earliest applications of CLiC were in road tunnel projects, primarily where beam cables for rescue were laid.

During the renovation of a Czech tunnel in 2001 for example, approximately 4000 CLiC clamps were installed to cope with temperature, humidity and gases.

  • Corrosion resistant and fireproof - ideal for shipbuilding

In the French shipyards at Alstom Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, CLiC was used for all water and compressed air lines.

Hot, cold, cooling and domestic hot water flows in copper pipes which are fastened with CLiC clamps. A resistance to seawater atmosphere and the fire properties were two decisive factors for using CLiC over slower, traditional mounting methods.

  • Bridges

Under the Ponte Val Calanca in Switzerland, several kilometres of lines and cables were laid using CLiC clamps.

  • Hong Kong Metro

In the subway lines of Hong Kong, about 200km of radiating cables were secured with CLiC TOP clamps in 2000.

  • Metro of Moscow

The beam cable for operating and safety communications were fastened with CLiC TOP pipe clamps on the Moscow Metro.

  • Water treatment plant

CLiC TOP clamps were used to secure more than 800m of PVC pipe in a water treatment plant in Germany. CLiC TOP was chosen due to ease of installation and excellent weather resistance.

  • Sodium hypochlorite plant

This particular plant produces sodium hypochlorite from seawater. The sodium hypochlorite is dosed for treatment of drinking water. Because this system works under the most extreme conditions, CLiC TOP clamps were used because of their high weather resistance and easy and efficient installation.

  • Clean cable routing

For a clean cable routing, CLiC clamps are often mounted ‘shoulder to shoulder’ using double threaded bolts.

  • Geothermal probes

CLiC TOP 113 was used for the fastening of distribution panels and geothermal probes. The system ensured a decisively quick and clean installation.

  • Oil refinery

CLiC TOP pipe clamps have proven themselves in the mounting of pipes in an oil refinery application in Switzerland.
